Nice idea, but there'd better be something WAY more substantial nearby.
I count four shells, assuming none already in the shotgun, which there probably aren't. That's four Zeds *maximum* - and that means IF each shell is a one-hit takedown and IF you don't miss because you're pants-wetting scared and/or the accuracy is godawful with such a short barrel. Also, if the gun can only hold four shells at maximum...that's a rather small reserve for a longarm unless you're talking a sniper's gun (which this is not).
My advice: More shells, already placed in a sturdy bandoleer, plus a backup handgun with a couple clips (.45 caliber MINIMUM - .357 would be even better) The handgun can go in a pocket or through your belt, but fumbling around with loose shells or cartridges is a good way to end up as zombie chow.
Desertfox - The bullet size is smaller, but the velocity is way better - .357's can and do shoot through *engine blocks*.
Quantum Paradox - that's a fairly unique idea, and not implausible to do. Sulfuric acid, for example, is easier to make than even old-fashioned black powder because it doesn't have to be super-pure to work properly.
The big problem would be a *delivery system*; acid nasty enough to melt Zeds would also melt nearly anything you tried to put it in.

too long, did not read.
I love posters that involve guns. Because there's always some nerd copying things off of Wikipedia in the comments in an attempt to look manly.
Fat (Drooling, Retarded, Ugly, Unwanted) Bastard - Of course you read it or you wouldn't have replied. LOL! You're so stupid you can't even troll!
Miri Minibrains -
I quit referencing Wikipedia - for anything - when I got to high school.
So what's your excuse?
You realize that a .357 round is smaller than .45 caliber round, right?
Best weapon against zombies - acid gun.
Especially since zombies, being undead, would be unaffected by bullets unless they're decapitated by them or soemthing.
