Actually with the collapsible stock and shortened barrel, that's an M4. The M16 and M4 both fire the 5.56 round in either single shot or 3 round burst, but they made the M4 a little more compact.

You are right that it is an M4, but it still has the same length barrel, just a shorter handguard. Also it can fire .223 as well as the 5.56 NATO. Civilian models only have semi-auto capabilities, while NFA or law enforcement models have 3 round burst or full auto fire.

How about you gamers enlist and learn the difference between the M16 and M4. Plenty of bad guys still around.

Already did. I carry an M4 everday.

Actually the M4 has a 14 1/2 inch barrel while the M16 has a 20 inch barrel. The M4 has 3 round burst, while the M4A1 has full auto. 5.56 Nato round is what the military uses, the civilian round is .223, which is the same size slug, but not as much powder, hence a slightly smaller power, but you can buy higher end .223 with similiar load as the 5.56.
